- Fiscal Sponsor Information: Emerging nonprofits and/or organizations or coalitions interested in applying to the Foundation through a fiscal sponsor will be asked to complete and submit a Fiscal Sponsor Commitment Form with their grant application materials. For those looking for a fiscal sponsor or considering serving as a fiscal sponsor, the National Council on Nonprofits website has a list of useful resources.
- Activation Fund Applicant & Grantee Guide: All interested applicants are strongly encouraged to download and review the Activation Fund Applicant & Grantee Guide before applying, which includes tips for preparing materials at each stage, insights into why we ask certain questions, and how we assess requests received.
- Publicity Guide: Please refer to the Foundation’s Publicity Guide for information on Foundation policies and other tips for grant publicity.
- Payment Policy: Unless otherwise noted in the grant contract, the Foundation makes most grant payments in two installments, with half at the beginning of the grant period and half upon receipt of a progress report at the midpoint. Exceptions may be considered upon request.
- Insurance Provisions and Recommended Providers: Applicants selected for funding will be asked to provide evidence of liability insurance coverage as a provision in the grant agreement as an important business best practice. Organizations without such coverage may include the cost of purchasing said policies as indirect costs. Please click here for more specifics on this provision in the grant contract and for recommended brokers.
- Budget Modifications: For grantees, variances up to $5,000 within project budget line items are allowable, and any changes exceeding that amount will necessitate the Foundation’s approval of a budget modification in advance, except in the case that the variance also represents less than 10% of the respective line item. If a budget modification is requested, please contact Foundation staff for guidance. Please note that this process must be completed in advance of expending the relevant funds prior to the end of the grant period.
- Grantee Report Forms: Grant reporting requirements are outlined in the award letter and in the “special conditions” section of the grant contract. Foundation staff will send reminders in advance of deadlines and provides links to the following forms, as applicable:
